Acrylic on Canvas. 30x40cm. Part of the dreaming heads series. Based on an image I saw at an exhibition of photographs. It depicted a young woman wearing the scarlet Claddagh Shawl and the photo was made as part of the Albert Kahn "Archives of the planet" series. The young woman was barefoot and had discoloured teeth but she had an inner beauty and peace about her.

Very impressive, and beautiful use of the greens and reds.
The texture seems to make it work though..without it it would almost feel abstract.

Almost :P

:+fav:
Thanks a lot Birgit. It has a large number of layers. Been working on this one for weeks. Hence the layers! Hope life is good for you. xx
Thanks a lot Eric. I am very concerned with surface and texture in all my work. I have even glazed the red areas round the face to add another quality to the painting.
yes, good work takes a while, I hope you are satisfied, it's a beauty...life....there would be so much to say but to sum it up, I feel I am either having a major crisis or being in a kind of transition phase (or both), but it doesn't feel great at the moment. I hope you are content and happy. xx

Don't be scared of what is happening at the moment Birgit. A ship is safe in harbour but that is not what it is built for. You are starting to set sail!! Relish it. It does mean change and transformation. I am enjoying watching your change and creativity. You ar doing brilliantly. John xx
John, thanks so much for your encouragement, it really helps...and I know I had to go this way but at the moment I'm feeling like a ship in a bottle, which is even worse, but it will all work out eventually I guess...thanks again :hug:xxx

You're in my thoughts Birgit. Sometimes it needs a bit of faith. I have been surviving on the stuff for the last 28 years. I have no doubt that you will do very well. I think you are very talented. John xxx
